We attend the Fresno Home and Garden Show on sunday. We came across a booth that specialize in vermicomposting (worm casting.) They had a kit which included: 1/2 pound of red worms, DVD, school related worksheets with information, and a bin for there home. We added the shredded paper and our kitchen scraps such as fruit peels, coffee or tea grounds, egg shells ect... The girls had a lot of fun with this project. The DVD was a little silly, but had good info. We will use the castings in our flower bed. God's natural recyclers!
The girls want to play and hold the worms all the time. Joey wants nothing to do with them, coming for a boy who has been known to eat a snail (shell and all). We keep them under the kitchen sink with a tight lid, but that didn't stop me from dreaming about thier escape last night. Yuck!!
www.urban-worms.com is thier website if interested.
