Harvesting Our Potatoes!

It was time to harvest the potatoes. We all gathered around to see what had been waiting and growing under the ground all these months. My Dad stuck the shovel in the ground, turned the dirt and we all screamed with glee! You would of thought it was Christmas morning. The kids gathered the potatoes as if it was candy that had fallin from a pinata. We had planted 4 row. The first row was yukon, second row reds and the third and fourth row russets. The whites and red potatoes are fantastic, but the russets look funny and the skin is real bumpy and they are small. I will give them a try and see if they taste good. We all took turns digging up the potatoes.

This is me with it was my turn.

This is my mom.

Roger dug up some of our onions white and yellow. They are laying out in the sun to dry. They look real good too!

This is Bubba he loves to have his picture taken.

Our summer garden is coming to an end. We still have our tomatoe vines and are hoping for one more harvest. A few onions in the ground, but everything else has been dug up and thrown into the compost. We have a lot of compost my dad has really been on top of it and it looks great. It will be a great additon to next years garden.

I am Happy,

  1. What a fun time for the kids. We still have tomatoes, cantaloupes, squash, and pumpkins in our garden. Hopefully they will ripen before our frosts, which can be anytime now.

    Have a great evening.

  2. Thanks for the picture!

  3. My boys are old enough now, that digging up potatoes is no longer fun. They consider it a chore :O)
